Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Ruben E. Ramirez is an El Paso native who attended St. Clement’s Episcopal and Coronado High School. After completing a Bachelors of Science from The University of Texas at Austin he matriculated into Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

During his medical studies he was awarded a National Institute of Health grant for his research in molecular and cell biology, and a service award from the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

From there Dr. Ramirez returned to El Paso to fulfill his internship at Texas Tech University Health Science Center prior to starting his residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Texas Medical Branch. After residency Dr. Ramirez went on to attain fellowship training in Cornea / Anterior Segment / Refractive Surgery at the Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine in the Houston Medical Center. Dr. Ramirez has enjoyed returning home to serve the people of El Paso, not only as a fellowship trained ophthalmologist, but as an active member in the community alongside his beautiful wife and children.

Dr. Monica V. Ramirez is an El Paso native, originally a Franklin High School Cougar. She graduated from the University of Texas El Paso with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry.

She continued her training at the University of Houston College of Optometry. She interned with Houston Eye Associates,and La Nueva Casa de Amigo Optometry Clinic in the heart of Houston’s Medical Center. These clinics included education in glaucoma, anterior segment and corneal disease, pediatrics, cataract surgery and oculoplastics.

Her expertise in contact lenses provides a great benefit to those who want freedom from glasses without the commitment of refractive surgery. She particularly enjoys seeing young people. Dr. Ramirez is fluent in Spanish and enjoys spending time exploring with her three children.

Dr. Dorian David Acosta was born and raised in the Sun City where he graduated from Coronado High School. Soon after graduation, the T-Bird enlisted in the Air Force where he served for 10 years, completing 4 tours to the Middle East and an extended tour to Japan.

Upon his honorable discharge, Dr. Acosta enrolled into the University of Texas at El Paso graduating with honors with a bachelors of science degree in Biochemistry. He was, soon after, accepted into the prestigious University of Houston College of Optometry where he successfully received his Doctorate and later awarded his license as a Therapeutic and

Glaucoma Specialist Optometrist.

Dr. Acosta also specializes in scleral lenses, diabetic and dry eye care, as well as LASIK and cataract consultation. He is passionate about providing exemplary service with a personal touch. As a proud husband and father, he practices with the ideal of “Family is everything, so treat every patient, like they’re family.”

Dr. Rolando Guillot

Dr. Rolando Guillot has a deep-rooted connection to the El Paso Borderplex, which not only shapes his identity but also drives his passion for serving the community. Growing up in this vibrant area, he developed a strong sense of responsibility to contribute positively to the health and well-being of its residents.

After graduating from Cathedral High School as a proud Irishman. He matriculated and the University of Austin where he obtained his bachelor’s in Public Health. Dr. Guillot pursued his dream of becoming a Doctor of Optometry at the Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio. During his studies, he gained valuable experience in various aspects of eye care, including comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings, and the management of ocular diseases. His training has equipped him with the latest techniques and knowledge to provide the highest standard of care.

Now he is back at Buena Vista Eye Care, where he started as a High School summer intern. Dr. Guillot is eager to utilize his skills to improve the vision and overall eye health of his fellow community members. He is committed to fostering lasting relationships with his patients, ensuring they feel heard and supported throughout their eye care journey. His passion for education and prevention will also play a key role in raising awareness about eye health in the community.
